17 September 2026 – 20 September 2026 · AFAS Live, Amsterdam · UK time
The World Series of Darts Finals lands at AFAS Live in Amsterdam from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 September, closing out the 2026 World Series calendar after seven qualifying legs in cities from Copenhagen to New York. Thirty-two players, a £450,000 prize fund and a first-round format that can end a big name’s week in a single best-of-11 leg session.
Michael van Gerwen goes in as defending champion on home soil, having beaten Luke Littler 11-7 in last year’s final for his sixth World Series Finals title. Littler, the 2024 champion, arrives with a different kind of motivation: a win in Amsterdam keeps alive his bid to sweep every major PDC title in a single year, a feat nobody has managed before.
The field
Eight players go straight into the seeded bracket: Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price, Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen, Jonny Clayton, James Wade and Stephen Bunting. The rest of the 32-man field is made up of the top World Series qualifiers, including Nathan Aspinall, Josh Rock, Danny Noppert and Simon Whitlock, four players who qualified off the PDC world rankings, and a group of Tour Card holders led by Rob Cross and Callan Rydz.
The first round is played over best of 11 legs, a short enough distance that an off night is enough to end a seed’s tournament early. The second round and quarter-finals step up to best of 19, with the semi-finals and final both best of 21. The quarter-finals are played on Sunday afternoon, with the semi-finals and final capping the event on Sunday evening.
The winner takes £100,000 from the £450,000 pot, with £60,000 to the runner-up, £30,000 for each losing semi-finalist, £17,500 for the quarter-finalists, £10,000 for second-round losers and £5,000 for anyone knocked out in round one.
What looks the smart angle
Littler goes to Amsterdam as the form player of the year and the one with the bigger incentive, a shot at reversing last year’s final scoreline against the man who beat him. Van Gerwen’s World Series form through the qualifying legs has been solid rather than dominant, and defending a title on a stage where he has to beat Littler, Humphries and van Veen in the same week is a tall order even at home. Humphries arrives off the back of winning the US Darts Masters, which makes him the form player outside the top two seeds and the one most likely to disrupt an all-Littler-van Gerwen final.
We are not printing an outright price here. We checked for a single bookmaker’s full outright board at one point in time and could not attribute a consistent set of prices we were confident in, which is the bar we hold odds to before publishing them, the same line we took on the Ayr Gold Cup field this week. Any view above is opinion and analysis, not a tip: a 32-man knockout with a best-of-11 opening round has ended plenty of tournaments for the favourite before the weekend even starts.
A best-of-11 first round is fast, and backing an outsider to spring an upset early is a different bet to backing the eventual winner, so check what odds bar an offer needs before using it on this event.
Ad: new Virgin Bet members can bet £10 and get £20 in free bets plus 2 x £5 Bet Builder tokens. Minimum qualifying odds are 1/2 (1.5), low enough to clear on most first-round outsiders as well as the outright favourites. Register and qualify within 14 days, then accept the free bets from the pop-up within 7 days and use them within a further 7.
Ad: new Betfred customers can bet £10 and get £50 in free bets, split as £30 in sports free bets and £20 in Bet Builder free bets, credited within 24 hours of the qualifying bet settling. The bar here is Evens (2.0) or greater, which rules out a heavily backed favourite like Littler at a short outright price but is comfortably cleared by most match-by-match prices in a 32-man field this early.
Ad: new William Hill customers registering with promo code R30 can bet £10 and get £30 in free bets, paid as 3 x £10 once a qualifying single at 1/2 (1.5) or greater settles. Deposits must be by debit card, with PayPal, Apple Pay, Skrill and Neteller excluded, and the free bets expire 7 days after they land.
Virgin Bet’s lower qualifying bar and William Hill’s identical 1/2 minimum both suit a tournament with this many live outsiders better than Betfred’s Evens threshold does, though Betfred’s headline figure is the biggest of the three if the qualifying bet clears it.
Elsewhere this week
Ayr Racecourse runs its three-day September meeting over the same Thursday-to-Saturday window, closing with the Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday. In football, Real Madrid’s trip to bottom-two Elche kicks off the Premier League round in Spain on Tuesday evening.
